YOU should be that person.
Press charges. People like that get away with so much shit they think they'll always get away with it and I'm betting you're not the first person he's took a swing at.
Next time he does it, it may not be just a punch. He may end up stabbing or shooting someone. I can't say this often enough - People like that don't learn from their mistakes till they have to pay the price. They don't have the capacity to think "Oh my car suddenly broke down, must be karma for punching that guy"

Fuck Karma. It can have what's left when I get done.

Hopefully they find this jerk and I will press charges.

It takes two to tango, even if you aren't the guy. I wonder what he did to his own wife.

With your experience, he must have sucker punched you when you weren't expecting it. This incident, and many on the news lately, reminds me to be situational aware at all times. I usually scan areas for potential dangers, but only in a situation where I feel vulnerable or where there may be a real threat. An attack like that is unpredictable, out of the blue.

Do you have any thoughts on how to prevent something like this from occurring in the future? Did you see any signs this guy was after you, but not understand what was happening? Any advice?

@MichSwampbuck

I was at WholeFoods, I should sue Amazon and make Jeff pay up. I am always alert and aware. This jerk came up behind me and punched me with a ring on near my nose below my eye. He hit my lip too.

Than he swung again but I was ready for him.

Now I need to be way more alert, that is what I say.

My eye is turning black. I am joining the black eye club!

That's terrible. I agree with David, press charges, the police need to start a record on this guy. How many others is he punching in the face? How do you know he isn't lying about the wife thing and just wants to punch people in the faces?

Sending healing vibes your way, right now (trying to take the damage/inflammation down).

I hope they find him, the police said they do not have a great shot of him and the outside cameras were not working! So no license plate.

It figures the cameras were down!

Thanks! I am not hurt. I have need hit and kicked way harder in my kick boxing classes.

That's a pretty shitty thing to happen.

I recall being in the supermarket (ASDA) years ago now.

Dude was going up and down aisles, flinging things off shelves, and acting in a rather aggressive manner.

I had the Mrs and little girl(about 4) with me at the time, and the crazy fella decided to go for my daughter of all people.

Ran right towards her, i managed to ram him with the trolley before he got to her, which was nearly full, and knocked him clear on his arse.

Told the fella straight, look mate, the only thing you are going to get here is pain in spades.

Looked at me weird expression on his face, got up, and proceeded to leave us alone, and start flinging things off the shelves again.

We passed on by, but by the time we got into the next aisles, he had managed to punch a wee nine-year-old girl square in the face.

Security had him pinned to the floor and one of what looked like the old curtain stands they used to have around hospital beds around him, kicking and screaming all over the place.

Turned out the fella apparently had low blood sugar of all things.

And that's not even the craziest thing I've seen in ASDA.

Andy,

OMG, he went after your four year old and punched a nine year old.

What a nut. I am happy she is ok.

I remember once at Walmart, there were two women standing a little ways away from me and I overheard their conversation. One said to the other "I'm going to punch her in the face", the other "Why?", "Because I didn't like the way she looked at me."

Needless to say, I kept as far away from that situation as possible and tried not to look at them during all of this.

I wonder with all the prices rising to levels where we can't afford our usual fare, that violence will escalate in grocery stores due to hopelessness and generally people being pushed to the limit.
