Going Ape In Space

So... this is old news, but it was new to me:  a gorilla suit was smuggled onto the International Space Station.

To surprise astronaut Scott J. Kelly for his Feb. 21, 2016, birthday during his one-year mission aboard ISS, his twin brother astronaut Mark E. Kelly arranged for the delivery of a life-size gorilla costume to the station. In addition to some mild-mannered shenanigans while wearing the gorilla costume that he posted to social media, such as chasing fellow Expedition 46 crewmember Timothy N. Peake through the Destiny module, Kelly also recorded some educational videos dressed in the non-standard garb.

I"m surprised it made the trip.  I thought these space shots were really very very careful about weight and using up weight allowance only for what is essential.

Maybe the next 'fun time' will be a gorilla in pirate gear playing the saxophone...  should be interesting.

Little by little, we are getting 'comfortable' in space. 

If more of us could just "join in"... now, that would be fun.

When I was younger and still invited to parties, went to a costume party dressed as a priest (even took a Bible), another dude had the gorilla costume. We snuck out into some bushes to smoke weed and we heard some people not from the party about to walk past. I asked the dude to put the gorilla head thing back on and jump out the bushes going RAAAAAAAA, then I jump out and say away with you wicked beast. Dude was like na stuff that, and those people walked past without being traumatized. 

So many failings in my life.
