The image I have in my head is of this helpful robot doing laundry, and then it does something like start a dryer that a playing toddler has climbed inside. Boom. End of the household robot industry. It will happen, or something like that will. How low an accident rate is low enough to accept?
The only use for these things is on the battlefield, where such moral calculus is considered acceptable.
