'Facts That Could Save Your Life'.
#1
Am sure some of these are BS but on the whole some of these many facts may indeed 'save your life'.

After reading through insurance files yes indeed some folks are that stupid (usually rich ones).

There's some good advice here if you ever find yourself trapped in a car, burning house etc.

Those things are as dangerous as the PTO on a tractor. Pre tensioned springs will rip your arm off if they unwind. They're made to pick up a heavy door, an arm is just in the way.

Well said Sir - most folks don't know

Well done Karl;  there was actually quite a lot of useful information in this, and several things I didn't know about.    I had a difficulty following this fast-talking young man, so I turned the sound off and put on the closed caption.   MUCH easier, at least for me.

Something I came across recently was asking people I knew their sense of the timing and cadence of CPR.   It varies if there is just one responder or more, and recommended counts vary a little between countries.   International standards such as Red Cross seem to be consistent.    Of the people I asked, almost everyone had been through CPR instruction, and almost all of them had different notions of what to do and  when.   I was once a first responder to disasters, in my case mostly earthquakes.   I like to take refresher courses whenever they are available, because thinking about it doesn't engage muscle memory nearly as well as practicing on a CPR maniken.

ETA: aaand, there are different steps when dealing with children or infants.

And me mate - I don't think I'll ever be getting naked in front of a polar bear though.

Kudos to you for being a first responder. Beer

I still am a first responder, it's just that I no longer have a governmental mandate, and I don't get paid for it.   Lol

I also used to be a first responder to hazmat spills/unknowns.    I thankfully have retired that hat three decades ago.   When I think of the aluminum suitcase I used to be able to carry onboard with it's pumps and tubes and wires and cannisters and such, using only a government I.D., well.........   I think that sort of response is in the past.   I wouldn't imagine I could even check such a 'threatening' bag on an airplane anymore.

My turf was from Hawaii to Texas.  Lot of ground to cover, and often had to move quickly.  When I could and had time, I checked a locked Pelican case with a firearm.    Those were the days.  Those were the days when even Washington, Oregon and Colorado supported the Second Amendment.   In those days, once you got north of Anchorage in Alaska, there was not much airport security, as passengers carried firearms on board the small airplanes.    I never felt so safe flying.

Classic stuff and full respect mate.

Never carried a firearm but do remember once flying into Cuba with soldiers (with automatic weapons) stood on the tarmac running sniffer dogs over everyone lol.

Got another top tip although as an animal lover did find this one a bit depressing.

Absolutely nobody wants to catch rabies though.

Quote:Rabid animals may appear tame.

Animals with rabies are often depicted as violent and out-of-control. According to the Humane Society this is typical of rabid animals in their “furious” form. But the disease also has what’s slightly misleadingly called the “paralytic form.” In this state, the infected creature may be slow, disoriented, and even partially paralyzed. They may seem tame to the outside observer, but you shouldn’t mistake them for a friendly pet. A seemingly easygoing rabid animal is just as dangerous as a furious one.
