“The pilot is safe and has been transported to Bassett Army Hospital for further evaluation,” the statement said.
 
Eielson Air Force Base is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of Fairbanks.

There was some kind of problem with the aircraft before he ejected.

Well, two things are clear, the aircraft wasn't travelling horizontally with great speed, and it was quite low to the ground given the appearance of the pilot, under parachute, shortly after the really expensive aircraft pancaked itself.

It was a flight of two arriving back at Eielson. The second aircraft an be seen at the start of the video. That means he was either in the break, and turning at the time, or had just come out of the break when it happened.

Wild AH video... looks like the landing gear was deployed, were they on final approach? Is this normal crash procedures and protocols?

It was a two ship, he had declared an emergency during the flight and they were returning to base. It may have been a flight control issue.
