Why does anything even exist at all? It does seem like the default should be nothing instead of something, but here we are.
Apparently, there is a default that we are not privy? Or are we? How do we define nothing from which emerges something.
If you just take the Occams' razor and slice away to your hearts content and carve away everything there still remains something that makes everything possible. You can't see it or measure it, but it's there, and it won't go away – some liken it to God.

You take the razor, and you slice from the universal model all of the things that were created, so that all that remains is the 'uncreated', or eternal – there can be no ending without a beginning.
If it can be observed it was created; even the depth of perception, so the three spatial dimensions are carved away and tossed to the bin. Existence has now been reduced to the dimension of time and nothing else.
It is hypothesized that time can accommodate a spiritual existence but not a physical one since consciousness does not appear to occupy physical space.
This sole existence of only a singular time dimension would be akin to a primordial God – the "uncreated" thing that co-exists with eternity.
It's somewhat intriguing to visualize this uncreated thing in its dimensionless existence.

According to some esoteric theologies I've referenced in the past(not so much anymore), the "abyss" would've come after these anomalies(or phenomena) I was going on about, and my interpretation is that polarity is implied to have preceded any type of (spatial) abyss.
Perhaps polarity was manifested during a stage of quantum fluctuations prior any aethereal expansion – any abysmal formation. I've interpreted the abyss as forming during the preliminary stages of universal expansion and prior the development of any gross physical constructs.
First polarity would be manifested as quantum phenomena (protons; electrons) and then later on come to fruition as gender in the physical realm: as within(pre-spatial), so without(post-spatial).
I can see a partial quote from Nietzsche in referencing the abyss with respect to the post I'm replying (sort of), but not really sure what you're going on about with the rest of it.
And in the context of any abyss, why not wrap it up with a track by Hypocrisy (what the hell):

Simulation theory, simulating the end of the world. Nothing exists.
The abyss is eternity and always has been as far as I know

i like to think the abyss is humanity with each human life having its own unique darkness and ignorance tracing a path a contour of experience in time along the edge of the abyss of the unknown and the sum total of all those path lines of every human that ever lived and ever will trace the surface of an unexplored shape and within that shape is all the ways we did not choose to experience being ignorant of ourselves and that is probably not a bad definition of humanity or our particular sapience if you think about it. we are the abyss.
edit to add this is fun model because of limited perception of time the part is not the totality or is it we don't know and the existence is defined by the negation of separation. fun because this same model extends at multiple levels, first between each human as individuals hmm are we all one soul, and second if we can move beyond that a little but still in the material universe between humanity and nhi hmm are we all one sentience, perhaps galaxy to galaxy too, hierarchies of unity neverending. don't know if that makes sense but it does sound less boring that drifting through darkness alone.

Sorry CCoburn, I didn't think these where serious contemplations.
The default state is "nothing", when something has the most potential energy it is dark. It has not moved yet, there is no energy released. Because it's not moving there is no time, this is an eternity.
You come from nothing and go towards nothing, there is an eternity waiting at both ends

Sirius, I was absolutely serious, but more in the form of poetic regurgitations in lieu of "contemplations" on that one(or two), so I'm not writing exactly the same thing every time I write in that particular context.
And my moods may affect my writing, so there's a bit of deviation here and there, but still serious.
Also, I don't really do a whole lot of "contemplating" anymore unless it's something like the nature of this "nothing" which is obviously 'something' or else we wouldn't be here talking about it right now, or ever.
There are other things to go into here, but I gotta start getting my ass outta here because it gets dark so damn early now (around 4:00), and I haven't been much of a morning person lately.
