Looks like Swalwell is resigning from Congress!
That was fast wasn't it!
Also many Democrats "Outraged" and were calling for resignation!
Lots of people think Democrats are engaging in Fake Outrage and will use the PR for more!
The "Evidence" was crystal clear apparently enough to be 100% convincing as real.
NPR "neutral" story!
Eric Swalwell will resign from Congress as he faces backlash over assault allegations
Quote:Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., is resigning from his seat in Congress as he faces growing backlash to allegations of sexual assault and misconduct.
In a statement posted to social media Monday, Swalwell acknowledged growing calls among lawmakers to expel him from the House of Representatives.
"Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it's also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress," Swalwell said.
So who gets to be the new CA Governor now?

A republican?
And that's not a joke, we have a jungle primary. With 9 remaining viable candidates.
7 Democrats
2 Republicans
Top ones now are; Tom Steyer, Katie Porter, Steve Hilton, Chad Bianco.
Only the top two make it to November.
It may end up that the two republican ones get 16-19% each and the 7 democrats, all refusing to bow out, split the rest all under 15%.
Swalwell was the leading Democrat.
Its probably going to be Trumps endorsement, Hilton, and either Porter or Steyer.
My crystal ball says Hilton Vs. Steyer with a chance of Hilton vs. Bianco.

We also have Texas Rep Tony Gonzalez that is set to resign today from congress. This comes after dropping out of the race for re-election, the day after he was forced into a runoff for the 2nd straight election cycle, against the (now) GOP nominee Brandon Herrera.
Gonzalez, feverously, denied allegations that he was having an extramarital affair with one of his subordinates that, unfortunately, took her own life after the affair by self immolation. It was only after he was forced into another runoff that he admitted the affair, but brushed it off as a "lapse in judgement" that his wife ahs forgiven and God has forgiven him for as well. He then doubled down on a podcast, after dropping out of the race, that the reason she took her own life was not due to the affair, but because her husband was gay.
These wastes of oxygen should not only be expelled from congress but brought up on federal charges for abuse of power to gain the advantage over subordinates and other "professionals".

Though I'm not fan of adultery, its not illegal. Long as it was all consensual I don't see why a politician should resign. It is also a massive double standard with a massive adulterer being in the Whitehouse right now.

Correct, adultery is not a federal crime.
However, it is illegal for members of congress to use their powers to force subordinates into sexual relationships. Which, if you look into the situation with Gonzalez, that is exactly what it was. She got a HUGE raise right before he started pressuring her into the relationship.
It's not a double standard, on my part. Now, if he was accused and found to be guilty of it while in his role as president or with subordinates in his other ventures then sure get rid of it him. But, until then, he has not committed any illegal acts of the sort as president.

I get these guys dropping out and resigning when they disclose dirt on them. But then i wonder about the others who drop out " to be closer to family" or to take a job in the civilian sector. Dems and repubs who just walk away, some not being old. No real scandals. Who gives up a gravy train dream job like that? Then generally their seat goes to the opposing party. Maintain the balance, maintain the seesaw. They must have dirt on these people or they coerce them somehow.

Not all who get into congress or the senate are there for the long run. Some are there simply to achieve something they set out to do and once they are done they leave. DC is a swamp and most sane people are not going to want to spend more time there than necessary.
Also not super hard for a lot of them to get out and make more money in the private, or civilian, sector and not have as many rules to follow as they do when they are in congress/senate.
Coercion is not unheard of in those swamps as well. I there are plenty that get pushed out just for not holding the same beliefs as their colleagues on "their side of the isle". Tulsi Gabbard is one of those such members, in some aspects of it. She left on her own terms, but, was being pushed by Hillary, Pelosi, and everyone else at the upper echelons of the Dems because she was showing to be more centric or right leaning.
