I think yours is an accurate analysis.  

Are these women "astronauts"?  No.   Never claimed to be.   They were people that a private citizen (Bezos) compiled to cram aboard his experimental rocket.   Consider this:   Bezos might have considered them to be expendible, including his fi·ancé.   I can see him saying to himself, "Lord, give me a sign."   

I don't get all the hate toward them.   Rich people do rich things.   I think it was a moving experience for them, and that's okay with me.   I will never get the opportunity to do the same, but I would in a heartbeat, IF my Darlin' would go also, but she would NEVER go, so I won't ever do so either.   In short, I am envious of them, and I hope they had the time of their lives.
