It is inevitable now... once anyone pops the cork on that bottle of drama, the noise will serve many distraction purposes... from serving to create a lack of confidence in some, to create an air of paranoia in anyone who even mentions it.
The point here is, if we don't watch this closely... someone WILL take "political" advantage of the situation.. and they'll prioritize THAT over actually helping victims... as well even exploiting the victims for virtue signaling and political gain... who says evil doesn't exist?
So over on another thread 727Sky posted this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_giuUApXK8 and content aside, one thing I like to do is sort the comments "newest first" and get a feel for what's being shown there. And... well... it just seemed so "turfy". Fake. And yes, that's nothing new for YouTube haha, but it really seems like someone's unleashed a swarm. And someone big, platform-big. Here, let me just check again.... yes, three thousand "hot-takes" now for a video four hours old. "October Surprise", "voter suppression", etc, etc. More by the minute. All the shallow-take pitchfork-bait you can think of. Check it out; see what you think.
I'm not saying all these comments are fake. Aw, hell -- maybe I am. Oh there's probably
some real ones there, but it sure seems YouTube's switch got flipped from "bury&hide" to "formica&foment". So yeah I think you're dead on right that someone's political machine has decided to come out and play.
36 new comments in the time it took to write that last paragraph.
edit to add: oh and i gotta throw in something meta here that isn't it interesting the parallels between the kind of opinion-modifiying color-revolution tech developed in the hearts&minds campaign: find the point to create mass movement of social forces, the critical junctures and give just the right push, spam just the right messaging, to tip the boulder to roll down the hill, to create a political movement, outrage, change -- isn't it odd how that parallels the "weather control" tech idea? moving the "hurricane" of public outrage, steer "the storm" where you want it... strange how these things work... "they have to do it openly..." heck, i bet with the right modeling the algos would even be the same...
