BREAKING: U.S. citizens are being urged to shelter in place in parts of Jalisco as cartel violence and roadblocks flare, with smoke visible around Puerto Vallarta following the reported hit on CJNG leadership. This is a cartel credibility demonstration aimed at three audiences. Audience one: Mexico’s state apparatus. They are saying: you can take a head, we can still set the tempo. Roadblocks, arson, smoke over a resort zone, prison escape rumors, airline pauses, shelter in place guidance. That stack is designed to make officials look slow, blind, and outmatched. Audience two: their own network. If a top figure is removed, the organization has to prove continuity immediately or splinter pressure rises. Public retaliation is internal cohesion glue. It tells lieutenants and affiliates that the brand still protects them and still punishes betrayal. Audience three: civilians and tourists. Because fear moves faster than bullets. Fear empties hotels, freezes movement, disrupts cashflow, and forces political attention. A resort corridor is an attention amplifier. The deeper structure: This is messaging through disruption. The operational goal is not to win a firefight. The operational goal is to control the map psychologically. If people cannot distinguish safe streets from unsafe streets, the cartel owns the terrain without needing to occupy it.

As of early 2026, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) is considered the primary, most aggressive rival of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico. The two organizations are locked in a fierce, violent battle for control of key trafficking routes, particularly regarding the production and smuggling of fentanyl.
Juan Orlando Hernández, who served as President of Honduras from 2014 to 2022, was convicted in the United States in March 2024 for conspiring with the Sinaloa Cartel and other violent drug-trafficking organizations to import hundreds of tons of cocaine into the U.S..
Prosecutors established that Hernández operated Honduras as a "narco-state," using military and police forces to protect traffickers in exchange for millions of dollars in bribes, including from Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.
Following his conviction and a 45-year prison sentence, President Donald Trump granted Hernández a "full and complete pardon" on December 1, 2025, leading to his release from U.S. federal prison.

As of two hours ago, Instagram was flooded with people reporting from the day’s events in Central Mexico.
Now? Crickets. Resoundingly so.
I don’t have FB or TikTok, but if someone would please confirm that the narration is being whitewashed in real time I’d appreciate it.
Odd, because here I thought “anything but the files”. Now I guess we all have to wait for the prescribed anecdotals from the AP and Reuters in the AM…..

Maybe power has been cut? Communications might also be restricted as a state of war is declared?
Some in the area action.

I can’t speak for PV, other than to say that no airliners were torched on the tarmac. AI bs again.
My wife, family and friends are all fine in Guadalajara, but essentially sheltered in place!
I am told that it is very quiet and calm. In fact everyone was told to be at work at the hospital this morning, and she has been there since 0545 hrs and has not seen one patient.
All she saw on her way in was military.

Hope you and your family circle and friends stay safe, and this settles down
It's wild getting real news is difficult ... I know there are cartel flare-ups but this level of disruption is rare, isn't it
