Despite being staunch atheists, Chinese Communist leaders and their officials have long believed in supernatural powers and often consulted psychics. Local officials in Northeast China once discovered a man from a rural area who has the ability to see both the past and the future. They called him Half-Immortal Wang and frequently sought him out for fortune-telling. Eventually, Wang was brought to Beijing, where he advised some of the most powerful men in China. From a purely logical perspective, immortality would be a binary concept.

Either you're immortal, or you're not.

I'm not seeing much middle ground.

But the term "half immortal wang" is in the context of Chinese mythology. 

So i probably should not be questioning the mythological and Taoist traditions.
