CrowdStrike...who had 'fun' today???
#1
This morning at 0415am I started getting notifications that the WORLD was melting down.  Hmmmm...too bad...too bad y'all put your "eggs" all in one basket...don'tcha' think?

Most people never see "Falcon" software on their computers, nor should they.  BUT, for those who run this application, it is central to a Windows PC to booting up.  Thus...it cannot be fixed from the inside...it requires a human "touch" for EVERY PC.

Why?  Well, because CrowdStrike is IN the middle of your OS booting up, and when it gets corrupted...well... you're screwed.

SO...Yeah...they found the problem, and NO....it's NOT a virus...BUT...if your company runs this secretive software, then you are CRIPPLED...until some physical person touches YOUR computer and installs the "fix"  This is NOT easy.  It involves every PC, every machine running windows.  Why?  Because a "restrart" doesn't fix the problem..it requires "SNEAKER-NET"...which is where we ALL started.

Think about this for a moment.  I beg you.

The thing that irks me most is that these 'vulnerabilities' and 'deficiencies in operating systems are mostly known.

While it will be spun as 'people need to be more careful' in the media... this was NOT a user thing.... this was a system engineering thing.

I agree that many won't even stop to consider just how much this is about 'leadership' not paying attention... because 'deals' and 'profit' are more important... and on the flip-side, every failure is an opportunity to create new 'solutions' for money.
