Chinese Robot Sets Guinness World Record With 66-Mile Walk

The U.S.-China robot race is getting more literal.

Longest journey walked by a humanoid robot

Guinness World Records has officially recognized the AgiBot A2 humanoid robot for completing the longest continuous walk ever recorded by a humanoid: 106.286 km (66.04 miles). The walk took place in China from November 10–13, 2025, over the course of about 56 hours.

According to the GWR listing, the robot had been heavily optimized earlier in 2025 to improve balance, stability, and endurance, with engineers aiming specifically for long-duration walking without falls. Before the record attempt, A2 had already completed a full 24-hour autonomous test walk in August 2025 under extreme heat (around 40°C), which the company live-broadcasted.

The robot reportedly never powered off. Instead it used a -hot-swap- battery system, which let it continue walking while batteries were replaced.

Crazy how China is pushing out new humanoid prototypes every few months...  Shocked2

I expect the folks at Guinness will do a nominal job at making sure this isn't more "press-release" journalism from Chinese marketers.

I always suspected the 'news' reporting of these advances to be highly 'skewed.'

Would this walking robot be a "production model" or just a mile-stone prototype?

My favorite part would be the warm and friendly red eyes.

That's not creepy at all.

I bet it would have a workout walking through the sixteen inches of snow we had from wednesday noon to thursday morning.  It was heavy wet snow and hard to plow, when I got all done and put the plow truck away, the plow came by and I had to go plow the entrance to the driveway again.  Good thing the plow came by, I don't think it would have been easy to drive the subaru forester to my daughters a few hours later for thanksgiving supper, the subaru...we call it sushi....has onlyeight inches of ground clearance, the plow truck has twelve and when I tried to go the last fifty feet at the end of the drive, I had to go through it then come back and plow it into a little clearing where I had plowed before from the other way..  When I stopped by the road, I had to back up to break through the snow because it was spinning from a complete stop, then go through onto the road  because there is a drop off ditch area on the other side of the road, so can't push it that way.

I hate getting stuck with a plow truck....it requires shoveling sometimes, and I had already shoveled for a half hour by the truck and car.  My neck was so sore at my daughters from dealing with the snow I could not even socialize with everyone much...the headache sucked.  It took me an hour and a half to plow the drive yesterday, about four gallons of gas.  I didn't want to use the tractor with the eighty inch snowblower, sticky wet snow packs the blower all the time and you got to go out and clean it out with a shovel

We are safe from a Chinese robot invasion here in the winter.  Unless it is wearing snowshoes and has a built in heater.  The cameras would fog right up.  The deer would protect us because we feed them all the time.

Not to take anything away from the thread but there are several videos of Chinese Bots being controlled by hidden game controllers during a Robot Expo all the while claiming the Chinese Bots are autonomous... Anything claimed by China needs to be considered with a critical eye as most of their stuff is propaganda and lies. Some of their propaganda does play both ways as it get American industry to work harder at staying ahead or doing catch up... Great for the American MIC... If this Robot walk was fake you gotta wonder how much money passed under the table for a desirable outcome.... Sorry I do not trust anything or anyone dealing with the CCP as they can and at times do buy most opinions on the planet.

Might want to check the bank accounts of the Guinness investigators an witnesses ?

I saw that too. It was clearly not ready.

The big fear with China is, since they have already taken all of our manufacturing jobs. They are now poised to also take all of our robot jobs.

Combine that with all the jobs lost to AI, and unemployment could become a problem.

I hope you've all learnt your friendly Chinese welcome when they send them out by the thousands to keep us in our homes, making sure to keep us all safe!!   Lol Lol

The Guinness World Records doesn’t hand out certifications because someone flashes a smile or slides money under a table. Their verification process is brutal: continuous footage, logs, witnesses, documentation... the whole thing gets dissected before they sign off. Could someone cheat? Theoretically... but very unlikely as China is heavily investing in robotics.

The videos you’re talking about were from trade shows where tele-op is common, even U.S. companies use it, including Elon's Tesla bots. That’s how companies avoid them face-planting in front of crowds... because their is a history of that.

I get that people love to trash China... but when you have a country that massive with thousands of tech companies, of course you’re going to see some fraud, some garbage products, and some straight-up clones. That’s what happens at scale.

But, most don't realize how big China's tech industry is... it's sheer size is the reason it's pulling ahead and dominating. It’s not just big... it’s on a different scale than anything the U.S. or Europe is operating. When you have entire provinces functioning like giant R&D hubs, when your supply chains are vertically integrated inside a single city, when you have thousands of Chinese companies competing at insane speeds against each other... it's mind blowing and scary LOL.

I think next year the U.S. military tech will be left in the dust, if not already... better hope we have some alien tech LOL.
