• China has 136 cities of at least 1 million people. (2020: 427,540,000 total)
• China has 100 cities between 100,000 and 1,000,000 (2020: 33,800,000 total)
• China also has around 600,000 smaller towns called "administrative villages" between 1,000 and 100,000. (With the vast majority between 1000 to 2000 people.)
• In 2020, approximately 509.8 million people lived in rural (non-urban) areas, making up about 36.11%.
• The urban population is 901 million.

Total population = 1.41 billion..

- 427,500,000
- 33,800,000

= 442,000,000 remaining.

So take the 442,000,000 and divide it by the 600,000 villages to equal an average population of 736.

But the internet .JUST FREAKING Said the average administrative village is between 1 and 2 thousand people. That's not enough. It needs to average 1,500. 

So you have to take from the rural count and double it to 884,000,000. And assume a large portion of administrative villages are within urban metro areas. Like outlying villages or townships swallowed up by urban sprawl still with separate administration.  

Now there are 600,000 administrative villages with an average population of: 1,472 people. And they line up. 

So with all that together... 

• Cities over 1 million: 427,540,000
• Cities 100,000 to 1,000,000: 33,800,000
• Total Administrative villages: 884,000,000
   • 439,700,000 (Urban)
   • 444,300,000 (Rural)
• Population outside any administrative village: 64,660,000

= 1,410,000,000

It all depends if you accept that china has 600,000 villages under 100,000, and half are urban and half are rural, because it works if give their census that benefit of doubt...

With limited and only approved internet access in China it is true anyone who says anything negative about the CCP or Xi or even reports on stuff like Chinese made electric cars catching fire and burning down whole apartment complexes can result in people go to jail or disappearing.. Kinda like what a few other countries are trying to do now with social media...Wonder where they got the idea ?? It would appear with COVID and now the White Lung virus going around china the population may be much much lower than the CCP wants you to believe.
