When these were current models, they were so far off my radar, it wasn't even funny. I grew up in plenty of parent's old Benz, but wasn't into it, so it was VAG cars for me personally, nbd. Those brown 1970-80's sales brochures and videos were pretty stale by my taste, also the cost of the older models was astronomic.
Since I got older, I took up my dad's pet brand of car, and developed a litte theory. I say that Benz is always the best selection of vehicle at any point in time and at any price point. There are outliers, like VW Rabbit, but when you look at passenger cars up to supercars, the Benz is still running, still good and relevant, after other brands have wilted in the light. I gave away 2000s Benz to three different friends and family over the last few years. It's a piece of cake to get a W203, W163 or W212 up and running for just a few $1000, you'd be surprised.
