No we were having an open discussion, welcome to all. In fact you hijacked this conversation charokeeroy.
Also you are a foreigner I don't care about your thoughts on the state of anything in my country, if we were talking space aliens I would have no problem watching the video and conversing in a more friendly and productive manner. This is not that.

This thread is all over the place and there are sub-discussions within, so wrong, we were discussing Porter's predictions that I said some have come true and you won't even watch the video. What are you afraid of? The truth?

I just proved a financial expert's predictions came true and who, by the way, is a Trump fan, and you choose to ignore it.

Here I'll use one of your sources to show you Trump and capitalism is in fact winning and they don't understand why because the experts said this wouldn't happen.
Quote:The data shows U.S. shoppers’ resilience amid higher costs and job-market concerns. To appeal to price-sensitive consumers, retailers are offering discounts on a wide range of goods — although the promotions may not be quite as deep as in past years. Companies are also highlighting newer, exclusive items for the season, ranging from $10 couch throws to $5 Barbie dolls.
“It clearly shows that the consumer has the ability to spend,” Michelle Meyer, chief economist at the Mastercard Economics Institute, said in an interview.

And we here think that because of layoffs companies were able to lower prices, and some here think that consumers are sinking in debt to make those purchases. That's not winning.

I think your wrong.
Quote:No, holiday prices are not necessarily down because of layoffs; rather, prices are a mix of factors, and while some discounts are available, others are limited. Layoffs in some retail sectors are a response to slowing sales and other economic pressures like inflation and tariffs. This has led to varied discount levels: some sectors (like apparel and electronics) have fewer markdowns due to tariffs, while other retailers are offering more general discounts to attract customers despite economic concerns. Why prices are mixed - Layoffs: Some retailers are undergoing layoffs due to factors like slowing sales and high inflation.
- Tariffs and supply chain issues: These are major drivers of higher prices and reduced discounts, especially in sectors like apparel and consumer electronics.
- Increased discounts: In response to inflation and a cautious consumer, many retailers are increasing discounts to drive sales, even if it means slimmer margins.
- Varying product categories: The extent of the discounts depends on the product. Some items, like those subject to tariffs or with high input costs (e.g., gold and silver for jewelry), may see fewer deals.
Overall economic picture - Strong projected sales: Despite economic headwinds like layoffs, holiday sales are still projected to be strong, possibly reaching $1 trillion.
- Consumer spending: Consumers are cutting back on their average spending for the holidays due to inflation and tariffs, but they are still planning to spend money.
Looks that many factors play into economics not just what you want it to be.

I really think listening to financial experts may help you better understand what is going on. But, hey, you do you.

And when your wrong will you admit that you were mistaken?

Mistaken about what? I said that some of Porter's predictions came true and they did. Oh wait, do you mean the actual underlying context of your thread is "Capitalism wins again for the filthy rich"? Then you are right and I am wrong.
