Canada pledges 4b+ to Ukraine
#1
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the G7 summit and said Canada would offer the country additional military aid and more support in the form of loans.

Apart of the loan from Canada is passing frozen Russian assets along to Ukraine.

Is this canadas first direct form of aid/entry into the war between Ukraine and Russia? What are the implications?

Money well spent? Time will tell.

"Ukraine's defense industry says it is prepared to produce much more weaponry than it is currently making. The problem is that the Ukrainian government can't afford the multi-billion-dollar price tag for production."

"The host of defense companies that have sprung up over the last three years of war has allowed Ukraine to innovate quickly and make weaponry that is well suited to the country's specific fight, and their insights into the demands of modern war have many Western companies keen to collaborate and learn from them."

"Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin shared earlier this year that "the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry have grown 35 times over the three years of the invasion," up from $1 billion in 2022 to $35 billion now."

"He said Ukrainian defense companies get contracts worth around $11.5 billion, but they have the capacity to make as much as $45 billion in weapons."

Ukraine can make way more weapons than the country can buy. Industry figures say there's a simple fix to unlocking its potential.

"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, give a man the opportunity to build a mighty defense industry and he becomes self-sufficient while also kicking ass on the battlefield."

Is Canada investing in Ukraine's defense companies for future gain? Time will tell.

Loans?
To a corrupt, major defaulter? What could possibly go wrong?

Canada has our own problems with homelessness, veteran’s affairs, mental health and drug addiction. Perhaps the politicians and the evil civil service should be listening to the fucking people who put them in office.

This is beyond party politics. This is downright disgusting and disgraceful behavior.

Loans my ass. It’s just money spent for future political and personal gain. Have the Ukraine print the money for their own defense industry so they really know what national debt is.

My 2 pesos as a Canadian.

I think this is an investment for Canada and I repeat, time will tell. And Russia is paying for it.

"Canada is also lending the war-torn country $2.3-billion to help rebuild its infrastructure and public systems. The Prime Minister's Office said the loan will be repaid by interest charged on Russian assets frozen in Europe."

Nope.
If you are threatened, then the good guys eliminate the threat.
There are good guys in wars, but in the Ukraine/Russia war, there are not.

The good guys and the bad guys change depending on who is saying it and/or how it came about, and/or how the people are brainwashed into accepting war as an acceptable choice.
