The Omen AAV (Autonomous Air Vehicle) has been revealed and deserves attention. It is a heavy Group 3 tailsitter that lifts vertically, transitions to fixed-wing cruise, and needs no runway. The airframe folds for transport and can be assembled by two people. Its hybrid electric powerplant appears to overcome the endurance limits that crippled earlier tailsitter designs.

Anduril and EDGE are jointly producing it. The UAE has already ordered fifty units, and the program includes a production and R&D hub in the UAE along with a separate line at Arsenal One in Ohio.

The system is built for long-range ISR, maritime patrol, communications relay, and other distributed tasks. The company claims it carries three to five times the payload of typical Group 3 aircraft. It is aimed at expeditionary operations on rough ground, ship decks, or isolated sites.

The next questions will center on real endurance numbers and how the autonomy package performs under limited connectivity.

There is another tailsitter UCAV called the Shield XBAT, but it is not a competitor. They sit in different weight classes and fulfill different mission roles.
