And we might have accidentally discovered the trail leading to the reason behind this shooting.
Inside Luigi Mangione's family of 'beloved' Baltimore royalty: 'It's a shock for all of us'
Quote:TOWSON, Md. — Luigi Mangione’s family is “beloved’’ Baltimore royalty, fueled by a real-estate empire and history of contributing millions of dollars to healthcare — the very industry that allegedly drove him to murder.
Was this contribution paid back in the economy of insider trading? That may very well have been why Luigi shot Thompson. Imagine what you would do if you and your family was going to be exposed as a product of illegal trading and money transfers?
It will be interesting to see what else gets leaked out by family members trying to distance themselves from Luigi's actions.

Has he been formally charged in the murder or still just weapons violations?

Some updates that once again are telling about what might be going on here, and covered up.
Cops probing when Luigi Mangione's family realized he was wanted in UnitedHealthcare CEO's murder
Quote:Cops are still “vetting” the hundreds of tips they received in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson — as it remains unclear whether suspected killer Luigi Mangione’s family recognized him while he was on the run.
NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry was pressed on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday about whether Mangione’s relatives — part of a prominent Baltimore, Md., clan — had contacted authorities to identify him.
“We’re still vetting each one of those tips. But thank God for the customer that was in the McDonalds,” Daughtry said, referring to the tipster who called the cops after Mangione was spotted chomping on hashbrowns at a fast food joint in Altoona, Pennsylvania Monday.
Now here's the parts where it gets interesting:
Quote:Law-enforcement sources said there was no indication that the Mangione family had tried to obstruct the investigation in any way.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest,” Mangione’s family said in a statement posted on social media by Nino Mangione, a Republican Maryland state legislator. “We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved.”
This is followed up by these points,
Quote:Mangione’s family seems to have known something was amiss in the weeks before the shooting.
His mom reported him missing to San Francisco police on November 18, though the circumstances of the report, or whether the family made contact after it was filed, remain unclear.
Now the point of Luigi being in San Francisco right before this shooting, and the narrative that's getting pushed about Pelosi being involved in insider trading with UnitedHealth Care starts to seem a little conspiratorial and more plausible. Then we have that point that Luigi's family thought something was up when their kid went missing, but after the shooting decided not to inform Law Enforcment about it. I mean I guess if Luigi's family was involved in this insider trading that was going to be exposed by Thompson, then maybe they wanted to distance themselves as well. I wonder if anyone checked to see if Paul Pelosi or Nancy (which I would bet Paul) Pelosi made any phone calls post shooting to the Mangione family?
As to the charges right now, Luigi seems to be trying to fight extradition to New York for murder charges. I wonder if he would have felt differently if people weren't calling for Alvin Bragg to be replaced?

Right now I'm still leaning towards the opinion that the Pelosi thing is a red herring. I'm imaging, as soon as something newsey breaks, a team of back-room political spinners brainstorming how can we make hay of this. Pelosi is a hate-trigger, polarizing, every time I've heard mention of her in conversation it devolves into silly partisan lines, precludes going beyond the surface of things, entrenches the idea of one part of the system being corrupt in a shallow way and the other really disapproving. That seems like a trap. Not saying she's not opportunistically trading or whatever, but I doubt she'll ever be pinned to the wall for it. Too clever, she's probably doing nothing illegal, she's of the class that makes the laws not the one that's really afraid of them.
Here is the NYT not wanting this guy to become a folk hero:
Quote:Internal New York Times messages about its coverage of alleged gunman Luigi Mangione have been leaked to me and the contents are revealing. On Tuesday, management said “the news value and public service of showing his face is diminishing,” instructing staff to “dial back” its use of such photos. It also directed that Luigi’s “manifesto” not be published in the paper.
The directive was heeded. If you visit Times’ front-page story today on the shooter, it features Mangione’s back as he was being marched to his arraignment in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Another Times story today on Mangione’s notebook features a photo of a generic police-tape barricade.
This is media paternalism at its worst, the idea that seeing the shooter’s face too much, or reading his 262-word statement, will necessarily inspire copy-cat assassinations and should therefore be withheld from the public....
The Times justification, according to the chat, is that photographs and words might have the effect of "amplifying the crime and inspiring others," as reporter Andy Newman said. Besides the New York Times' inflated view of its ability to de-amplify a crime that practically everyone is already talking about, the internal chat sheds light on the other arguably bigger reason the media shies away from disclosure: its fear of antagonizing the sources it relies upon for scoops. "My source asked last nite that we not publish the whole thing," reporter Andy Newman wrote in the Times chat.
By donning the “public safety” hat, the major media is in effect deputizing itself as a branch of the national security state. Beat reporters always find themselves in a bind, not wanting to imperil their access to the law enforcement and intelligence sources that furnish them with inside material. The government then plays favorites by leaking to news media reporters who act as compliant deputies, those who parrot whatever the government line is. The end result is a manifesto that half a dozen major media outlets have but not a single one is willing to publish.

The one thing that I find they may plausibly fear is the peasantry realizing they outnumber the ruling class. Thus the push to make it about political, cultural, or whatever issues that divide the populace in opinion. Right-wing incel?

interesting update:
Luigi Mangione's family operated nursing home empire that was cited for abuse and health violations
Quote: Accused killer Luigi Mangione may have targeted UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson over hatred of his company’s policies — but the suspect’s own family made millions with a nursing home network that was rife with violations and complaints, according to the Department of Health and Human Services (HSS).
The for-profit Lorien Health Services network, founded by Mangione’s affluent grandparents, touts its nine Maryland homes as idyllic places with the promise of top-class services and amenities that include restaurant-style dining, movie theaters and even beauty spas.
But at least two of the homes have been hit with low ratings by Medicare.gov for health inspections and quality-of-life issues, with one slammed with a warning label over reports of abuse.
I wonder if there were a lot of "covid deaths" at these nursing homes as well?
Then this interesting tid-bit,
Luigi Mangione, accused UnitedHealthcare CEO killer, was never a client of the insurance company: NYPD chief
Quote:
Luigi Mangione, the Ivy League graduate accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was never a client of the medical insurance giant, a senior NYPD official revealed Thursday.
Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told NBC that he suspects the alleged 26-year-old gunman may have targeted Thompson due to the size and influence of the health insurance company.
Well that blows the "UnitedHealthcare caused his lack of sex" argument. Things seems to be adding up though. Luigi had been in China, then hung out in San Francisco before going to New York to shoot Thompson before he could talk (ie Expose) about the insider traders.
So his family decided to distance themselves from Luigi and even put out a story about how anyone involved with crime would not get their part of a multi-million-dollar inheritance. Luigi has somehow gained a lot of money for his expenses and legal defense fund through crowd sourcing it. This would create a barrier to anyone wanting to sue the Mangione family for being part of this and also isolates Luigi from any connections to the people that might be connected to the insider trading.
Combine that story with this one,
Nancy Pelosi, 84, rushed to hospital after 'injury' during foreign trip
Quote:Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was rushed to the hospital after falling and breaking her hip during a congressional delegation trip to a World War II battlefield in Luxembourg, according to reports.
Pelosi, 84, joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in the Western European nation — but was injured in the apparent plunge and later “admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” according to her spokesman Ian Krager.
She tripped and fell as she was descending marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace, breaking her hip, sources later told The New York Times. CNN also confirmed that she had fallen on the stairs.
Which should make the Pelosi Family untouchable for a while, then you get the idea that this shooting of Thompson was created to cover up a much bigger picture involving politicians, mobsters, and who know which governments and governmental agencies have their fingers in this scam/pot.
