How would you know?
Perhaps that is why dreams slip away so easily, to leave a convenient blank to fill in.
Also, the thing with all the weird hats.
The problem that I had was that the journal turned into a biblical length epic tale... each night.
When I go to a carnival, I can't seem to just sum it up in one or two quick lines. For me, it takes too much time (and too many pages) to do...
But I do agree that the act of recollecting a dream can feel very similar to a 'déjà vu.' Especially if you don't dwell on it immediately upon awakening.
A fuzzy memory exercise of "filling in of the blanks," as it were.

In dreams you are in situations you wouldn't allow for yourself in real life, or dealing with people
that you wouldn't in real life. You do things in them you would not do in real life, and say things
you wouldn't say. It's frustrating and it's like someone is screwing with you ...
One of my dreams I've had twice ... that I was Hillary Clintons 'girlfriend' and we were a couple.
Living together somewhere. I can't stand Hillary, yet in the dream were were a 'couple' and I
had entered the relationship willingly and happily. We were talking and 'together' (not sexual in the dream).
To me ... that's someone raping my mind. In real life I would either ignore her or, if provoked,
I'd tell her what a criminal I think her to be.
THIS!
I’m in total control of my waking reality. Very systematic in nature. I do absolutely nothing that I don’t want to (unless it’s for my kids). However, I have these dreams where it seems I only possess half my brain. Like I’m a moron that will almost agree to anything. I wake up from these dreams disgusted in them, and in myself for being such a moron in it. Not all of them are like this, but there have been many.
I’m not sure if you’re in to women or not, but the same sex thing made your dream that much more bizarre. I just might have one that can beat that, though. One time (thank god it was only once), I had a dream I was a woman, AND I was having sex! I could actually feel being penetrated. I HATED IT! I am very much a man, and have never identified with being a woman. I’ve tried to, to get a better understanding of them. But never one thought in my life of identifying with it. I thank my lucky stars that dram lasted only seconds. Pretty sure I woke myself up (real damn fast) to get out of the situation.
Regarding the second dream in your OP. Do think the woman that turned around and looked at you like you shouldn’t have been there, saw a different appearance of you? Like maybe you looked translucent, like a ghost? This has my wheels spinning. Like potentially, the electro-magnetism of thunder causing the slip or merging of realities? Maybe this gave you an avenue to tap into the scene? Or maybe their heightened fear helped produce it as well?
I’ve always been envious of people with precognitive dreams. Up until this point, I’ve only had ONE. And oh boy did it suck! Back in the summer of 2006, I dreamt that wife at the time was cheating on me. RIGHT in front of my face — with no care in the world. I woke up from the dream furious at her. She did her best to quell my concerns. Well, 8 years later when going through our divorce, I found out that she had been cheating on me A LOT. And what do you know, it all started in the summer of 2006…….

I have for sure had some dreams that stood out to me. I usually don't remember my dreams...but occasionally I remember them in great detail. Even as a young teen I remember times where something struck me as déjà vu...and in that exact moment I will remember a dream from the past I had not remembered. I've even been able to call out whats next omce or twice, although only ever mundane stuff.
But there was this one dream I remember in great detail. I was at the house I grew up in in my dream, many years after I had lived elsewhere, I knew somehow that my whole family was there but never visually saw any of them. I was standing in the backyard when all of a sudden the entire horizon erupted in explosion. Next thing I knew I was on another planet...not like one with cities or people or any life I saw...however my entire family was with me. Ot was at that point we all realized we didn't have bodies...yet we were all there communicating somehow. In this dream I was the only one who knew what had happened to us and had to explain that the earth had blown up and that we had all "died". We were now just energy or as some may call it just our souls. After explaining this I remember looking up and seeing a, for lack of better words, spaceship like something from a scifi flick. Anyway, once I noticed it I remember having the thought that I wanted to look at it closer...and bam...instantly I was right there beside this ship in perfect pace checking it out. I realized all I had to do was think about something or I guess "want to do something" and instantly it was done. I then woke up sadly...
What really gets me about this dream more than any other...how the hell would my mind be able to come up with how being bodiless would be! How would I know and explain all of this to my folks... I will never forget that dream...I remember it in great detail, more so than the one and only time I experienced sleep paralysis and saw a shadow person...which was terrifying like most reports of such.
Our minds are powerful...a whole hell of a lot more than we understand...

Most of my dreams aren't worth writing down.
There's been a few worth recording but mostly they are repeating nonsense that takes pot to give deeper meaning to.
A recent dream example:
Starting in my building's lobby, then riding a weird scary partially exposed swaying elevator, to insane heights, to exit into a resort swimming pool back on ground level or covered deck with lots of plants. That excursion leads to a corridor- that leads to an airport terminal - that looks like an outdoor mall, and after boarding a plane it turns into a car (that's almost yours) and you are magically transported. Now you and a loved one, that wasnt in the dream until that point, are somewhere back East driving down a forested two lane highway that wasn't at all the city environment you started in.
Maybe I'm scared of heights or something isolation related? I'd rather not dive into the psychology of it.
My dream journal would be pages and pages of that stuff though.

And yeah .. I got the feeling that the woman on the plane saw me like a ghost. She knew I didn't belong there. Total shock to see me. Even with the impending death, the shock on seeing me over rode that terror.
And I had a dream once that I was a man. I hated it. Felt wrong. And the 'wrong' feeling stayed with me when I woke up and clung for a day or two.

Okay, so interesting. I’ve got to get this out while it’s still fresh. I had some insomnia last night. Putting me in the perfect dream state. I had a long drawn out one before I woke up. And it was baffling on many levels.
I can’t remember the beginning. So I’ll just start with what I can remember. I’ll also add that maybe my participation in this thread added to it.
I was at some weird family function from the past with all my old in-laws and the ex wife. Here’s one of the strange parts — we were still together (NOOOOOOOOOOO). And oh boy was there turmoil. I can’t remember how it all got brought up, but in the dream, I was forced to tell many of these members to their face, what terrible people they were (each for different reasons). Some of them being my own blood related family members, my father being one.
I don’t recall my kids being in the dream, but it was definitely from the past. After I had confronted everyone, I had to explain my reasons why, to each of them. They all just gave me a bewildered look and said nothing.
Fast forward to the weird reunion being over, and it was time for me to fly back home (wherever the hell that was). I’m on the plane by myself. No ex wife with me THANK GAWD! All the sudden we start feeling turbulence. Then a few moments later the plane heavily shutters, then started to nose dive. And we are plummeting to the ground at breakneck speed. In the initial moments, I felt terrified. Then, a calm came over me a few moments later and I said to myself “This is it. This is how I die. And it’s happening any moment.” Once I had that incredibly calming feeling, moments later, it felt like the pilot was able to regain some control of the craft. All the sudden, the plane flips upside down, just like in the movie ‘Flight’ with Denzel Washington (posted below). I could see everybody hanging from their seatbelts upside down, but for some reason I wasn’t. It seemed the pilot regained even more control by doing this. Then just like the movie, it started to turn right side up, we glided for a bit. Then we crash landed all safely, on the ground.
After we crashed we were all in absolute awe about what happened. The pilot came back and we were praising the hero. I remembered sitting around the crash scene with people, tellimg them about my calming feeling when approached with imminent death. Then I woke up as my alarm went off.
Things that make you go hhhhmmmm.. I’m in agreement it’s you, FF. The dream state does feel like mind rape….

A question to the folks with the intrusive dreams, are they lucid or near it? If so, do you remember anything that was aware of you, like the lady on the plan that saw FlyersFan or perhaps something else?
compassion, even when hope is lost

I can only speak for myself, but mine aren’t lucid. If they were, I feel I’d have more control over the dreams. Like saying ‘fuck this - I’m out!’ The one I had this morning, I kept waking up, then falling back to sleep and going right back into it, like there was no break. Those are the most baffling to me. What makes us stay in the dream once we’ve woken up, then fall back asleep?

perhaps is funny joke since not probably, with "hilary cliton" dream, or more bigpicture like undermining fence of naturalorder. not always negative scarey dreams, perhaps scary to evoke. also on the plane where you seem like ghost is maybe astralprojection? like you asleep dream but in somewhere sometime perhaps woman on plane really see ghost and somehow connect to your dream? real for her, dream for you, but same event? also have you ever tried astral projection it is easy to start for example simple meditate looking out at nature and close eyes almost but not quite then open them so you can barely see but maybe not? then just turn what eyes fill in into reality of belief in head and move through it. quite relaxing actually

RIGHT???? There is no way you'd still be married to an exwife, but there in the dream you are stuck in that situation and have to deal with it. It's forced on you. Your own mind is screwing you. That's how it was when I was Hillary Clintons 'girlfriend' in a couple of dreams. We were a couple. I can't stand the woman in real life.
TOTAL MIND RAPE.
