Every generation has claimed it was going to happen in their lifetime sure there will be war there will be pandemics a super volcano could blow an asteroid could smash into us or something we have not witnessed before these things all have happened in the past, but we are still here and If extraterrestrials have been visiting us since recorded time they want nothing to do with us. Sure, there will be a time the sun no longer shines but hopefully we have become smart enough to cooperate and find another planet to keep the human race going.
