Antarctica
#1
I found some old research I had meant to turn onto a thread... I never did... but it still seems what I have might be interesting to some people.

From Ancient Origins.net:  Lifting the Lid on Antarctica: Ancient Landscape Revealed Beneath Antarctica
which cites a paper: An ancient river landscape preserved beneath the East Antarctic Ice Sheet

This article discusses how building upon earlier data and supplemented with their own, they have manage to reveal a topological map of the Antarctic.  They speculate about the many river valleys they appear to have found.

While I found the text good... the pictures captured my imagination...

Looks similar to some of these old maps of Antarctica without ice..

Which begs the question, how did these old timey people able to make such a map?

Tangent: My fav old timey map is the Fools Cap Map, again how could such a map been created at the time?
