A car ploughed into a crowd at a German Christmas market on Friday, killing at least one person and injuring almost 70 in a suspected terror attack.

The car crashed through barriers protecting the market in Magdeburg and drove straight into shoppers, eyewitnesses reported.

Video purportedly taken by a nearby camera showed a car mowing down dozens of pedestrians as it sped through a narrow alleyway with stalls on either side.

The driver has been arrested, Germany’s DPA news agency reported, and police have cordoned off the city centre as they searched for explosives linked to the attack.

This is the same place they were having Muslim 'demonstrations 'through Xmas markets isn't it? about  2 weeks ago? I recall remarking 'why didn't the police arrest them for causing a disturbance? '
I GUARANTEE some of the same people at the 'demonstrations' were behind these actual attacks.
And why? Is it so offensive to sell fuckin trinkets?

Several of the injured are said to be in critical condition, and multiple reports citing the German public broadcaster MDR, said at least two people had been killed, one of the two reportedly a child.

Everyone seems to be considering it an attack... (and yes, I get it) but I keep feeling it to be a disease.

He seemed coherent and physically capable at arrest so I doubt it was anything like a stroke, epilepsy or anything like that.

The information coming out doesn't point to religious extremist terrorism.

Disease of the mind could make sense. Weird, I was just reading about the Lufthansa crash that happened in the Alps before checking the news. Medical information in Germany is highly confidential or at least used to be... This kind of stuff would be his bread and butter.

People will jump to terrorism, I've had the debate a few times around it's definition and the link with psychotic individuals. Hardly the time though.

Rip to the victims, hopefully the number stays at 2 and the injured make speedy recoveries.

Whatever his motives, the information coming out about him is less than helpful as to his intentions.

A source close to the Saudi government told the BBC it sent four official notifications known as "Notes Verbal" to German authorities, warning them about what they said were "the very extreme views" held by al-Abdulmohsen.
The source, who asked not to be named, said these notifications were ignored.
 
However, another experienced counter-terrorism expert said the Saudis may be mounting a disinformation campaign to discredit someone who tried to help young Saudi women seek asylum in Germany.

It's why I mentioned the Lufthansa crash which was a murder suicide that I happened to be reading about before I heard of this. Germany seemingly has a very strict system regarding medical information and privacy. That confidentiality cannot be breached beyond what I'm assuming is threats to self or others.

That means the police or even employers wouldn't have an inherent right to access such information.

That may have changed but I don't see any indication it has. Lufthansa did proverbial backflips for safety after that crash which in itself says the laws weren't going to change.

It'll all come out in time, my hunch says it was most likely a mental breakdown. Again he would've been capable of masking the symptoms of extreme stress but it's also fully possible he was under care but information lawfully cannot be shared. There's so many possibilities when going down those angles tbh.

People just losing their # to a cold world does happen unfortunately. I'm hoping it isn't that in all honesty because it leaves the sour taste you get when reading about coppers being murderers and rapists.

Psychologists are human too, it would be easier to dehumanise him and blame his background and/or upbringing. Things aren't always black and white.

The Saudi link rings alarm bells though.
