I'm thinking they have stumbled upon some bad actors or they want to see how many self-deport.  

They are acting with such surety on such a hot-button topic, they might have some dirt and some intel

I thought by law everyone immigrating had to be registered no matter what. Otherwise illegal. Duh, right? 
My friend was worried they would target green card holders.
I think it's unfounded nonsense but it's funny they have to announce essentially 'we are enforcing the law now'

Goodbye B1(business) and B2 (tourism) visas?

At one point they were good for 10 years and 180 days per stay. Aren't those defacto acknowledgements of government?

What's the deal with this decree? So even if it's a B2 visa, that allows up to 180 days, they have to jump through an extra hoop?

I don't get this. Are we making foreign visitors on travel Visas put themselves on a list beyond the travel visa itself, just so there's something to harass them for if they don't?

Aren't you known to the government as soon as you enter on a travel visa by customs? What other foreign nationals are there? The illegals also made themselves known to the Federal government right away, or did for 4 years anyway.

Nahh, it is less intrusive than I thought if you have a States Drivers license it's REAL ID compliant and has been for a couple of years. 

One would assume most long-term Visa holders already have licenses
