It's the place you go when you die, apparently.
If someone told you would you believe them? There's a multitude of stories and beliefs when it comes to the afterlife.
Maybe it's all chemically induced hallucinations to ease the discomfort of death, maybe quite a few of us are nuts.
Asking about the afterlife is going to be a bit like asking someone with disassociative identity disorder to tell you about themselves.

I can tell you that I was born with a bad heart and 2 years ago I had a major open heart surgery. Everything replaced. The Lung and Heart machine went down.
It was keeping me alive. I died and never knew a thing! lol
Woke up with a big freakin surgical incision in the ICU. That was my after life lol
Be kind to everyone!

Glad you are here Quantum. What a nightmare. My oldest son had major heart surgery when he was thirteen. That was ages ago and he is doing fine. I hope you are too.

I'm going to do the Hebrew thing and just be agnostic to the underworld or afterlife's existence.
What does happen, that I can't rationalize away with science and platitudes, are apparitions upon death. Events and sightings at time of death of a loved one.
Or when things of significance start flying off a counter or falling over or off the wall. Or those things continuing to happen like a "spirit." And locations of trauma being prone to these occurrences.
Even the most scientific person (if taking the experience as real) has to argue at minimum for a connected consciousness. A type of effect that can cause visual hullucinations and sudden kinetic energy. I've tried, good luck.
Maybe trauma and traumatic people do things they don't even realize and it takes longer for these things to dissipate?
If it's energy, it's chaotic energy that happens to defy your notions of cause and effect. And if there's no possible material cause, you're left only with the possibility this abstract universe is something that is a governing aspect of our meat world from beyond.
The underworld, netherworld, divine matrix, astral plane, acausal universe, spirit realm, whatever you want to call it seems to be a massive short circuit to the material world we cling to.
And if you can tell me how a small ceramic frog statue can fly off a bookshelf and be the only thing to launch 3 ft away from the bookshelf itself, I'm all ears.
It's either a beyond reality thing or some psyops agent is abusing their knowledge of remote telekinesis again. Really, take your pick of crazy answers.

I do thank you for taking the time to post that. You were right, this isn't really the thread for me.
Hope the thread picks up for you!

It's probably a lot like the beforelife: not here (somewhere; nowhere) โ> here(now) โ> not here (somewhere; nowhere) ad infinitum. Just different relative points in a never-ending chain, but only "relative" in a linear universal context; beyond that time functions as nonlinear and without implication of a multiverse, even the universes themselves become as points of a never-ending chain within the abyss of eternity.
So, believing in a PERMANENT residential afterlife would be at odds with the logic of universal time, but there could exist an afterlife of sorts in conjunction with other incarnations during the lifespan of the universe, and I'm guessing after that there would be a total and complete existential reset of space, time, and even the universe itself โ all would be made new again.
I was actually agreeing with part of what you said, midicon, and have made a note to not use gender-neutral pronouns where a specific username would be preferable (for sake of clarity). Not that it was/wasn't a problem; just sayin'.

You're welcome?
I can do critical too.
Afterlife has a lot going against it, and really does serve as a utilitarian coping mechanism for societies, as stated. 117 billion souls have existed, unless you're Hindu (which recycle), but even with Hindu you have animal souls to consider. Trillions of souls. And that's just earth. If we listen to that creepy boat guy there are also alien souls.
Hindu calls it Atman, the undying essence of being (permanent self), all animals. Buddhism traditionally hold anattman or "no soul", but simultaneous hold samsara, which is rebirth after death through the effects of your karma. You may be of impermanence but what you did gets reborn.
Or the idea that you just die, rot in the ground or get turned to ash in an oven. Your experience is limited to the viability of your body and nothing ultimately matters.
While that's totally possible it's like a dead end of hope for some.

The abstractions are overwhelming when factoring in all the lost souls, beings, and critters right down the hierarchy that all have their own little unique microcosmic consciousness time vectors/lines at play within the grand scheme of things.
Maybe the answer is hidden somewhere in The Wand of Abaris...
