The federal reserve decision is tomorrow...
#1
Anyone have any guesses as to which way they'll swing interest rates this time? My guess is there will be no change again but a decision of up or down has huge effects on all our worlds so..... what do you guys think?

Idk if anyone is even interested about this kind of thing here but if you are hey! Let's talk about it!

Also, I could of sworn in march their next meeting wasn't until July so is this an emergency meeting? Who knows

I think the Fed Chair keeps interest rates where they are, regardless of whether or not it is best for the US economy.

I base this on the idea that he felt no changes were needed any time soon.
I wonder at the announcement, too.  Seems like just last week he made a no change announcement.

Does this mean he's changed his mind and will cut rates at least a little. Eureka Eureka

I thought so too, this meeting wasn't supposed to happen until July I thought but apparently they had one in-between just to tell us nothing changed at all Biggrin wtf fed

IMO the Fed. Reserve looks at many variables to make interest rate decisions. How can they logically make any decision with a chaotic economic merry-go-round. If in doubt, do nothing. Blame anything and anyone but the source. Look here, not there.

Did you see the market reaction? Saddest little announcement-dip I ever did see. 15 minutes of whatever 90s daytraders are left going "sell! sell!" and everyone else going "lol whut okay I'll take that". Really I think they just had a meeting because Trump or someone has been pushing for a rate cut and they wanted to formally say "no we really aren't doing that right now". Which everyone already knew was going to be the case as there's no solid data on trade impact yet.

The only solid data on trade impact is that China is thumbing it's nose at Trump, so that's why Trump wants interest rates lowered. The hard working American people will suffer these consequences. Which country can last longer through this trade war storm? Nobody wins in the end.

No one really cares about that. What are they going to do, revolt? Don't make me laugh. If the knee's not on their neck at one angle, it'll be on their neck at another. Perhaps increase military spending some more? It's the undue impact on the retail sector that matters, that and the health of the trade pipelines.

I may be a little cynical. Or too realistic. My "apologies". Smile

Never underestimate the people revolting with their wallets and winning.

They said they are not lowering the rate, for now which is fine
