Why do you want some "Ministry of Truth" that gets to decide what is allowed to be seen or read ? We've been there before and it did NOT turn out well.
"The Free Exchange Of Ideas"...... and I get to decide, not some corporate or government assigned Guardian of Truth.
Isn't the new name "Truth Social"?

Because I believe people should have the right to their own opinions and to find out the truth for themselves. If they choose not to do so, well that's on them, and then they get called out with facts. That happened a lot on the other site.
Maybe I misinterpreted your post?
Do you disagree that people searching for the truth out there are not at all led by their programming, biases, agenda, ego etc?

If you say so ? Never been there, not X or Twitter or Facebook.

When I ask a question, I always add ? at the end of the sentence, that means I want input...it's not a statement.
We can all opine to our heart's content, but it can never be defined as debate.

Well of course some of them are, but certainly not all.
I have a couple friends, that get and believe the information from the nightly news.
I don't harp on them. I just let them know that there may be more to the story and sometimes give them other places to look for more information.
It certainly hasn't changed a couple of their political leanings. And that is ok. We are still friends.
The "Great" divide is nowhere near as wide as the media makes it out to be. Just more "misinformation".

So any time I point out that you or people may be manipulated by biased sources, that is considered harping by you? That is an underhanded manipulation tactic BTW. And I am guessing the alternate information sources you provided to your friends go unsearched/unread? And they haven't changed their leanings because of bias and programming.
The only point I am making here is that debate can never happen here because all we do is push our opinions which we get from biased sources. Actually more to the reality, nobody bothers to post the sources they get their biased confirmation/validation from in the first place.
Some newcomers here will, as always, just opine, mudsling and insult...it is what it is. It can never be referred to as debate in any way, shape or form.
From what I am seeing of infighting with Trump supporters and MAGA, the great divide is getting bigger and bigger each day.

What you see as infighting I see as hashing it out or what I like to call it openly debating the issues. I know you would never call it a debate based on the definition of professional debate. You complain of mudslinging while slinging mud so you too enjoy the debates in these forums. As for sources of truth a good start is by providing the proof, just like in real math. Having undeniable evidence that can be tested and verified. A good example of this would be the Hunter Biden laptop, hard evidence completely verifiable yet completely dismissed as an attempt to fool or deceive the public to cover up actual criminal activities because of political biases.

The infighting is a response to supporters/MAGA realizing that they have been manipulated. It's just that simple and they are angry. It is a matter of becoming woke (aware) and seeing the clown behind the curtain.
Back to Facebook, that site will devolve into either an echo chamber like all the rest, or into a cesspool of vile behaviour and/or a disinformation shitshow, like all the rest.

From what I am seeing of infighting with Trump supporters and MAGA, the great divide is getting bigger and bigger each day. Where did I say anything about harping on me? You seem to have a very strong bias yourself.
Actually, most of time they do look at the alternate sources. I guess maybe I hang around with a different type of person than you do, that actually want the truth and can handle being wrong or right. Like myself. I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong and we appricate more the fact that we are actually learning something.
It is much easier to debate with someone, when they don't move the goalposts or change the topic. There are lots of people here that can do so, but yes, rightly get angry when goalposts and topics are continually changed mid debate.
