Lyrics that resonate with you
#21
I love all kinds of music, but I mostly think of the voice as another instrument, I do not (usually) give much importance to the lyrics, so my what I prefer changes with my mood, so it could be Black Sabath's Paranoid

or Gilbert O'Sullivan's Alone Again (Naturally)

or Monty Python's Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life

I was just listening to this song, My Back Pages.
In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand at the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy in the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats, mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now

This reminds me of some songs like maybe from around the '70s era where they wanted to incorporate the "voice" as instrumental without much if any consideration about lyrical content like "doo ah doo ah", or "shooby shooby".

Being on a writing forum and all, and plus I'm just weird like this, I usually try to tie the lyrics and/or titles in with written segments, but there is often a tug-of-war between how much I actually like a musical track and how much it relates to the writing.

I recall this one user on another forum; when he wasn't posting incoherent gibberish, he was spamming all of our music threads with dozens of random tracks without so much as a word or any context whatsoever – thankful there isn't anyone here like that.

I've Been Hurt (like I've never been hurt before, shoop dooby dooby...)

Not certain that this music video is something I can say "I resonate" with... but I find it so amusing and funny that want to share it

[warning this is RATED "R" at the very least]

Banger.

There's something so deep, shallow, sad, and happily hopeless about it.

I don't know that these lyrics necessarily "resonate" with me, but they are rather poetic and an interesting use of language and rhyme in the song they were written for, which I find quite interesting.

Stone Temple Pilots - Dead & Bloated

I am smellin' like the rose
that somebody gave me on
my birthday deathbed

I am smellin' like the rose
the somebody gave me
'cause I'm dead and bloated

One of my favorite lyricists probably just shows how disturbed I am. But it's completely my sense of humor. Especially with a compatible mood.

He writes this song that on the surface could be a beautiful love song. Like the type of youthful coming of age John Hughes type realization.

But really its about throwing the toaster in the bathtub while your girlfriend takes a bath.

Or this one about throwing her off a balcony
