86 pounds yet produces 800 H.P.

Yep 86 pounds and a claimed 800 H.P.
if all true I am surprised they have not been bought out or closed down....notice I said if true !! I do hope it is all true as this might be the perfect engine for aircraft and drones.
Quote:The Koenigsegg Dark Matter engine is a groundbreaking innovation that shatters conventional ideas of high-performance powertrains. Weighing just 86 pounds while producing an impressive 800 horsepower, this ultra-light engine is designed to revolutionize not just hypercars, but industries beyond automotive. With features like solid-state plasma ignition, advanced cooling systems, and multi-fuel compatibility, the Dark Matter engine offers a cleaner, more efficient alternative to traditional combustion engines and electric powertrains. Koenigsegg's technology challenges the electric vehicle monopoly, proposing a versatile, sustainable solution that promises to reshape the future of propulsion across automotive, aerospace, marine, and off-grid energy sectors.

According to the Konisegg website, the Dark Matter is an e-motor, an electric motor, which was designed in-house.

It is not an internal combustion engine (ICE), which the referenced video seems to claim..

Or perhaps I misunderstood the narrator?

It's a Swedish invention and a known car company...so... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koenigsegg_Gemera

Kind of interesting, but I am sure I will never have one.  I am smart enough to know it will be expensive, and I also know someone almost seventy should not be driving something with eight hundred horsepower.

I did design a similar style engine in physics classes in my senior year in high school back in seventy two, but most people did not want something like that, people liked the sound of a nice eight cylinder engine back then.

Yeah, and I was supposed to be paying attention in Physics class instead of designing an engine in class.

Dark Matter

The engine is an electric motor, designed to power the drive chain. The video claim that it is also a combustion engine is wrong. It can be powered by any kind of combustion engine with an alternator, so that part is kinda right.

Producing 800 HP is going to draw a lot of amps, it will get hot, cooling is important. The video did reference the cars fuel economy being comparable to a hybrid. As for just what kind of generator, battery, capacitor combo it has to power it?
