''In a groundbreaking legal move, over 100 individuals who were imprisoned following the January 6 Capitol riot have joined forces to file a $50 billion class action lawsuit against the Department of Justice (DOJ). The suit alleges mistreatment, denial of constitutional rights, and politically motivated prosecutions in the wake of the controversial event that rocked the nation.''

January 6 Prisoners File $50 Billion Lawsuit Against DOJ Sparking Outrage and Explosive Claims of Injustice - EconoTimes

So, the Federal WatchDog has started the J6 Restitution class action lawsuit alleging the government targeted them for political beliefs.

I'm a big believer that undercover federal agents in the crowds directed and guided protestors to the capitol building, then security details opened the perimeter gates and allowed people in. Also, in the crowd was FBI Anarchist groups antifa and elements of BLM.

The media will paint this as outrageous. However (and im not a legal boffin), I'm hoping discovery is going to happen.. on Jan6 and the committee.

This is good news; however I will not be shocked if nothing comes at it, since I have no faith in the American justice system.
Are any poor souls still imprisoned for walking around a federal building taking selfies?

⚠️ Foreword: You will likely not like this answer. It is rhetorical, but still possibly offensive. Readers warned

Entitled mindless children.

That's kinda like Portland rioters suing the Police after getting arrested for going to jail for dropping a Walgreens window and destroying the store. All sensationalism-driven sheep playing "follow the angriest leader with the greatest atrocity claim."

These aren't martyrs or patriots, they are Q-Fucked conspiritards, and sometimes angry unpleasant bitches that start shit with every one at a bar called "The Sunshine Company" over politics. Like the one from Ocean Beach that I still can't figure out why is some kind of folk hero. Some angry racist family too. F* her.

They should sue Trump for them being idiotic followers that thought he was telling them to surge at the Capital.

Okay, as of now, I believe the coming presidential administration to be Nazis in disguise. I think my country's taking a fascist turn, becoming hareful against left-leaning women, immigrants, and LGBT. I think it's waiting for jack boots and a final solution.

I think that Trump actually hired the instigators in an attempt to overturn an election, and has now turned their actions into some Reichstag-like incident to polarize people to accept fascism. And if we don't fight, we'll end up like The Third Reich.

With that said, and believed, I should be able to start a rally outside the RNC headquarters calling them all corrupted theocratic idealists that seek to turn our republic into a hateful xenophobic autocracy. And get 2200 liberal antifa protestors to help me "save the country from itself."

And as long as they truly believe the Republicans are Nazis it's justified.

* And finally, if it it WAS a whole government sponsored thing getting the dumbshit viking guys to storm the Capital it must have been called, "Operation,
Let's Make Trump An Uncontested Folk Hero Underdog Billionaire."

There are a lot of people who got jailed who in reality should more realistically have just gotten charged with trespass an fined.

The other point is the Capitol Building is owned BY THE PEOPLE.
You want to visit it, you visit it.
Destruction of property is a whole different matter. Obviously the security guards were overwhelmed. This could also have been de-escalated to a degree by Security treating people more as visitors than a invading horde. Certain folk were going to tear up a few offices no matter what, so let them then charge those crimes appropriately an Pelosi & others could just redecorate later.

Congress's attitude has been so far out of touch that people acting like they do in other countries STILL didn't wake them up. In reality this was one building, one incident that hasn't been repeated. No ones pointed out that any members if Congress who supported Trump could have raced down there an attempted to diffuse the worst of the situation, especially since no one else was going too.

Right, courage, definately too much to ask for.

I have some issues, I'll admit with a bias I have against those who combine victimhood with activism.

It conjures, in me a kind of revulsion... victimhood is not a badge of honor... ever.

The travesty here is how all of this was a matter of partisan zealotry.

First, on the part of the manufactured exuberance of the crowd, then the actual "actors" in the play, and finally, the simple fact that entire production was over political speech.

Yet the Justice Department simply disregarded that... and did what we see in third world countries of the past century... "produce a show" (incidentally, choreographed by other zealots.)

When some people express political opinion, they often engage in the theatrics of irrelevance, even to, and amongst themselves.
