I flew in to Saigon on the Friday before the Monday Saigon fell and picked up the Ambassadors wife birdcage and two kids and flew them out to Bangkok.

We the First CAV kicked butt in Cambodia and as a result for a couple of months afterwards we were not mortared or had rockets landing on is while we were sleeping .
Lam Son 719 was a grand plan to have the S. Vietnamese airlifted into Laos to break the North's supply lines; 1000 Army helicopters participated.. The North knew we were coming and kicked the invasion's butt. Most reports say before Lam Son 719 ended we lost 600 helicopters. I did Cambodia but left before 719 started; the guys who lived through that fubar operation were never the same IMO.
